A very tragic Manga?

I know anime and Manga aren't the same thing, so sorry about that.. But they are related :)
Do you guys know of some really tragic Mangas? Or anime for that matter..

Akira is a tragic piece all the way through; while it does have comedic moments, the overall tone of it is simultaneously thrilling and dramatic.
