Anime Question

What are your friend's and family's opinions on anime?

Gah, I am shunned by the whole world. For instance:

Me: *drawing*

Mom: what are you drawing?

Me: Hm? Oh. Just some anime stuff. I tell my parents I stay up reading, but the real reason I stay up past 2:00 am every night is because it's the only time I can watch anime, unless I'm alone in my room. If they ever catch me I'm dead.

Dad: anime?

Mom: *gives me a weird look*

*both start telling about the bad messages anime sends, and that they don't want me to ever watch that kind of stuff.

Me: ok, ok, geez . . . *makes mental note to never tell them I watch anime until I'm old enough that it doesn't matter*

(-_-) such is the life of a closet otaku . . . And the few friends that know about just think I'm weird.

Me: *is looking really intense because anime is awesome*

Friends: um, what are you doing?

Me: what? Oh, I'm just watching some anime.

Friend: *gives me a weird look* what's that?

Me: it's a kind of Japanese cartoon, and it's way better than all our American junk. You should come over and watch some, it's awesome.

Friend: um, no thanks. That's weird.

Me: you've never even seen it!

Friend: so? Japan is weird.

Me: *is about to murder someone*

And then here's what happened a few days later with that same friend, plus one more.

So we're all just sitting in a tree, talking.

Me: Oh! I started a new anime this morning!

Friend 1: not again.

Friend 2: what's anime?

Me: it's -

Friend 1: you don't wanna know. It's just some really weird Japanese cartoon thingie.

Friend 2: really?

*both starts talking about how Japan is weird*

Me: WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE ME?!?!?!?

Yup . . . And all my other friends are the same way . . . Can anyone else sympathise with me?

Yes, I feel for you! I know the feeling of not being allowed to watch anime cause I'm too young and its inappropriate for me.(as if!).

People who can relate! the funny thing is, things like blood, gore, nudity, etc. used to bother me immensely. but as soon as I watched Elfen Lied, Attack on Titan, and Mirai Nikki . . . *poof* all that certainly doesnt bother me anymore. and I can't tell if that's a good, or a bad thing.

My parents don't care whether I watch anime or not but my brother is a huge anime fan so I talk to him about anime alot but my sister is one of those people who shuns anime but I don't really give a damn what she thinks

My friends are alright with anime except one who stereotypically thinks anime is for perverts but one of my friends is a huge fan of anime and the others are alright with anime

Anyone who shuns anime can kiss a monkey's ass with what they think

well, my parents are ok with it, my brother thinks its childish and he tries to hook me up with some shows (like The Mentalist, ect.) and movies instead, but i dont really give a damn
only my close friends know i watch anime, they dont give a damn about it because i never talk about the animes i watch (i know they would be bored)
the other friends dont know that i like anime because i know they would think that i am childish and wierd (well...)

My friends is fine with anime but adults of lost ages of lifestyle like my family is not able receive this stuff as they think is useless,baseless and not educational subject for youngsters to learn properly nor beneficial for their future.Plus,they think anime is so 'wild' and too 'exposed' for youngsters to learn and see through it.Thus,they think anime culture can affect children lifestyle and mind with lot of negative stuff from it.
