Since I'm a heterosexual girl, I THOUGHT I would like yaoi but it turns out it's just not what I'm into. I don't mind either at all, though. I sometimes even like them; I can see how yaoi/yuri can be hot or cute, but it depends to me.
(I do like shounen ai and shoujo ai sometimes, because it's cute. x3)

You don't have to be straight to like Yuri or Yaoi. Pairing shouldn't have to be hot or cute to like them, it's not freakin eye candy. A pairing is for the pairing. I could careless about how it looks or who is in it.
^ I never said you have to be straight to like it. I meant that I thought I'd like yaoi because I thought I was the type who WOULD be into it, for the typical fangirl reason. It turns out I'm NOT in it for "eye candy", but many other people are. Didn't say everyone is like that though.
I even think it's strange that it needs it's own genre. Why can't some of them be seen as normal couples instead of "Yaoi/Yuri"? Yaoi/yuri were originally meant for people's gratification anyway, sadly people who might fetishize homosexuality. It's good that you care about the actual pairings, but it might as well not be called "yaoi" and just be called a pairing instead.
I believe there is a time and place for it. I've never gotten into Yuri. I do personally read quite a bit of yaoi manga but it's suppose to be exactly that. I do get a bit irritated with what I feel is an obsession of some fans to put any two male characters together even if they have even the slightest contact with each other or blatantly hate each other's guts. Especially if I like the characters (Or more often like one and hate the other).
Being a girl, I am more interested in Yaoi, but not like, hard-core and stuff like that. I'd like to say though, that i HATE Shounen-Ai, so never get those 2 confused. Yuri is like, "meh", to me, but once again, I am a girl.

Don't say 'because i'm a girl' because that is not a reason or excuss to drool over homosexual relationships. -_-
Yaoi and Yuri? I'm not a fan of. Because I completely hate the fandoms for it and don't even want to be seen in the same group as them. Yaoi fangirls only care about their OVAs and hardcore stuff and doujinshi. Then go on about how 'gross' Yuri is.
Yuri fans are the same way.
I am a Shounen-Ai and Shoujo-Ai fan, because those focus more on the actual relationships and not the sexual parts.
But to me, it doesn't matter. A pairing is a pairing, love is love.
I don't love Shouen-ai, Shoujo-ai, or Hetero pairings more then the other.
I love certain pairings more then the other, because I love their relationships more.
So my thoughts, course I love them.
You'd be the biggest hypocrite every to say you are for Gay Rights, then go 'ewww' over one of them. Also highly insulting to love one and call the other 'gross'.
So love is love for me, I ship by relationships and chemistry. Not for looks or for who is in the pairing.
I've actually only seen one Yuri anime and I haven't watched any yaoi. I haven't seen any shounen ai or shoujo ai either. So I can't really say whether I like them or not.I don't really like when people ship two characters who have nothing between them, just because they are "hot" together. Although, the same goes for hetero pairings. I do kind of want to see more to broaden my horizons and be a better judge of the genres though.
since i'm on a cell phone and have answered this question plenty of times, i'll try to be brief. as for yuri, i both love it and am annoyed by it. it depends on my mood i guess or how i feel about the character. if i 'seek' it, i'll probably enjoy it. if i'm not or an not expecting it, it's likely to annoy me. i don't watch a whole lot, but i do sometimes consider it a special 'treat', perhaps to watch after a particularly stressful day. overall, i would call myself a yuri fan. as for yaoi, i understand if female fans would like it, and am relieved if they do if it makes me seem a little less like a pervert for enjoying an occasional bit of ecchi.

i feel the need to clarify that I'm using the modern industry meaning of Yuri and Yaoi in this post, which is identical to Shoujo-Ai and Shounen-Ai.
