Anime Question

Have you ever realized "kawaii" means "cute"?

Pinkie Pie said it in episode 7 of the Japanese version of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. When she said it, the subtiles said "Cute!" I know this has nothing to do with anime, but a lot of anime fans relate kawaii with anime for some reason. If you didn't, God bless Pinkie Pie!

Kawaii is "cute" in Japanese,therefore even if it doesn't relate to anime in particular it relates to Japan which most people connect to anime therefore getting this chain of people who think that saying kawaii so many times along with a few Japanese words makes them Japanese or an anime character.
