Anime Question

To those who've watched madoka magica.....

So I'm at episode 3 and I heard it gets really creepy form here so I was wondering is it really as messed up and disturbing as people say it is or is it just sad? also it has 13 episodes and movies right?

Madoka Magica, in certain aspects, does get disturbing at times at around episodes 7-8-9 but it's not too bad. I would say the series is more heartbreaking in the end when you learn of the sacrifices the magical girls made.

There are twelve episodes and three movies. The first two movies basically recap the entire series but the last one, Rebellion, is a continuation of the series.

Oh, it's not as violent as the Higurashi series but more focuses on psychological horror. It's okay if you get scared easily, I do too at times. :) Madoka is an amazing protagonist but my favorite is also Homura due to-well, you'll see. ;)

She's my favorite because I was able to relate to her. ^^ Christina Vee did a good job as Homura except for some overunnunciantions on certain names but I overall thought she made a great Homura. ^^

Madoka Magica's imagery is certainly out of ordinary and supposed to give you the creeps, but it is no way gory or scary in a sense that it's going to mess with your head. All particularly disturbing things are in shadow, only part of the scene is shown, or done off screen.

It is in no way similar to the violence in Higurashi or Elfen Lied; it's actually very time and there is very little blood on top of it. It does change moods to a more tragic plotline, but I promise you that the imagery will not be disturbing (the people who legitimately found it brain-busting bad must be hypersensitive to violence...)

The actual scariness isn't really from the animation, but the concepts that are shown to have a psychological effect on the viewer. It delves into some pretty deep things that are creepier in your head (I would say more but I'd totally spoil the plot!)

You'll be totally fine, though.
