Ever watch an anime that turned out to be different than what you thought it was?

Defiantly! Yeah! I watched a AMV of Soul Eater of This is Halloween and a few other fan made music videos about Soul Eater and the opening intro. My guess on what I thought about it is that it was one of those serious and emotion animes and that it was about Soul and Maka being average everyday teenagers till one they fell into a coma and into a world of darkness and demons (the kishins) that want them dead and as soon as they get there, Death the Kid, Liz and Patty all warn them about this world and they learn about transforming into weapons to fight off the kishins if they are even gonna return to the real world. I thought Black*Star was just an anti-hero who is not evil but yet he doesn't like M&S and Tsubaki is just a normal character who occurs in some episodes and is friends with Black*Star. I thought Lord Death was the king of the dark world and is trying to guide Maka and Soul out. And......I thought Crona was only a minor character who only appears in one episode and turns into a kishin. So yeah, But as soon as I watched the first few episodes on DVD, I then found out that I was WAY TOO FAR OFF on what I guessed what it was about. Seems kinda like a twist to me.

The anime Needless was kinda different than I thought. it was still cool, but a bit strange.

Yeah! Fruits Basket! From the looks of it, it looks like a normal School Girl anime like Lucky Star!

I thought it was going to a pretty cool shonen anime.
Turns out to be a bullshit romance.

YES!!! Emily of New Moon and I thought Emily was a smart and pure person but she had to bully people.

Hmmmmph probably ouran I honestly had no idea what to expect but I did not expect what I got

Puella Magi Madoka Magica~

I thought it was some girly Magical Girl anime but it turned out pretty awesome XD

School Days fits that for me..it completely different from what I imagined..but since that's taken another anime that comes to mind is Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule Monsters I thought the story would have taken place in Domino City with Kaiba-kun and such but in turned out Yugi-boy's Jii-chan (Grandfather) gets taken somewhere and they go to a virtual-ish type world where they use Capsule Monsters but they were regular DM Monsters..you just call them out differently again I was way off on those two xD

Two words: Madoka Magica.

All turned out to be different than what I expected. The only one that gave me a negative outcome was Lucky Star. The rest I am enjoying or enjoyed.

For me, I would say Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

I was opposed to watching this anime because I heard that it was a moe magical girl (two of my least favorite genres) series with a slight yuri epitome (I don't really like yuri because it seems so foreign to me, though I don't oppose the idea of a lesbian couple in an anime). I thought it wasn't worth watching but I decided to give it a try since I watched a review of the series and my mind was blown from the serious, dark, and sad atmosphere the show had to it. It had so much emotion and depth that I couldn't believe that this was an anime I was opposed to watching. Overall, this series was amazing and makes it onto my favorite list without a doubt.

Another series that took me by surprise was Ga Rei: Zero. The first two episodes really through me off but the series turned out a lot better then I thought it was going to.

Elemental Gelade, yep people I wanted it to be a super cool action anime, but all I got was crappy romance

and CLANNAD, I thought that it would be funny be, in the end I hated it (exept for Ushio, Ilove Ushio)
