Anime Question

Please please give me your opinion?

So I answered a question posted a long time ago that asked "if you could change one thing about Hetalia what would it be?" and I answered that I would get rid of France. (Because I really don't like his personality and his pervertedness.) Later I got a message from a user calling me hateful and biased because I said I hated France. I gave my reasons and said that it's ok for someone to hate a character, but she kept persisting with her insults. My question is, does hating France make me biased? Is it wrong to hate a character from a show, even regardless of reasons?

I suppose it would depend on what those reasons were.If you dislike someone because there black, then that's obviously a bad reason. However, sometimes you just can't help it if you find a particular personality annoying. I try and not use the word "hate" so much. There are only a few characters that I actually hate, and I don't hate someone (real or fictional) just because they annoy me. There are a few that I just don't like though.

Sometimes (oftentimes), people feel the need to defend their favorite characters from insults. I'm sure most people do this to an extent, some may just go overboard with it and start flinging insults. Generally I find it best to respectfully express my opinion in a way that doesn't get people pissed at me. For instance, saying "I don't really like x because y, but that's just my opinion, so don't take it personally." If you suspect you are staking your position on a controversial issue, it's usually best to try and be as diplomatic as possible.

Also, just having an opinion on an issue will make you biased. It's impossible for someone to be completely without bias. You just have to make sure you don't let your biases cloud your judgement or create an us vs. them mentality.

Basically, I just gave you a long winded way of saying it's not necessarily wrong to dislike a character. Everyone has someone (or some type of person) they dislike. You just have to make sure the reasons behind that aren't overly biased or just plain bad.

Well...she said she doesn't like him cause of his pervertedness so I guess that's a good reason...to me...

Thank you for that, its true. I did try to be polite and I told her exactly what you said, but she still was really mean.

She was probably young, some people (especially immature ones) get really defensive over stuff like that.
