Anime Question

What anime do you think is better when it's english dubbed?

I think pretty much any anime out there is better in english... at least when done right (I'm looking at you, 4Kids, even if you do make good original shows).

No, seriously, I'll often refuse to watch the original japanese dub with english subs unless it's a last resort. Why? Well, I've said this before, and I'll say it again and again.

With subtitles, you have to READ. And if I want to READ, I'll grab a freaking Stephen King book off my shelf.

I would also like to say this. 4Kids isn't a bad company. Yes, they suck at dubbing and need to either stop or learn a thing or two from Funimation. However, that doesn't make them a bad company. I've seen them make some decent american shows from scratch. Plus, there was one anime that 4Kids was actually able to dub right, and that was Dinosaur King.

I agree, I have a preference toward English dubs, but when necessary (AKA when the anime was dubbed by 4Kids), I will watch the original with subs. Really, for the first episode of the HetaOni MAD series I didn't even use the subs XD.

But I must say, my favorite dub by far is Hetalia. Why? Well, because the accents make the entire thing THAT much funnier! XD

I agree with the thing about Hetalia. Some of my favs are J Michael Tatum (Dunno how to spell his name) Todd Haberkorn and Vic Mignona (Same with Vic's name XD)

Funimation did one of my favorite shows dubbed too!! And you're right they are FABULOUS

Anyway, two anime come to the top of the list as better in dub. Cromartie High School: After watching it initially in dub, I tried to watch it in sub and got a headache. The humor doesn't translate as well, either. The second is Cowboy Bebop. I can't stand Spike's or Faye's Japanese voices.

The show is suposd to be stereotypical and offensive so it wouldn't be the same without the accents~

In my opinion, one of the best dubbed anime's is Ouran High School Host Club. The voices are spot on, and it sounds so much more funny in english!

People may disagree with me here, but I also think a really good dub is Death Note. So is Peach Girl.

I do like dubs, but there are some anime's that I just HAVE to watch in Japanese because it sounds so much better: Hell Girl, Vampire Knight and K-ON

Also, I had a friend once who loved a certain anime show (the name escapes me at the moment). Now, he hates it because he found out that the japanese voices were horrible (mind you, the JAPANESE voices, not the english voices).

However, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne is MUCH better dubbed than subbed. The voices fit and the acting usually isn't too overdramatic. The subs actually make it worse since they were poorly translated. Well actually they were too well translated and weren't tweaked to make sense in the Western societies so I was confused while reading them.

How the fuck don't the voices fit the characters? I've watched plenty of anime by Funimation, and the voices all fit like a glove.

I didn't say the voices of Funimation didn't fit the characters. None of the animes above that I know of were done by Funimation that sucked. The only one I liked was done by Funimation. Where the hell did you even get that in the first place? Unless you can't read how I praised Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne and watched the trailer showing Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne done by Funimation. Plus, I praised Funimation in a comment to a picture above. Seriously, pay attention before you start throwing a cuss word out there. -.-
