Anime Question

I am confused about something that happened in Black Butler... (Spoilers to people who havent seen past the first episode in seaspn two)

Okay, so I just finished watching Black Butler Season One, and started season two. So, if Ceil's soul was sucked out of him, or whatever, than why the hell was he in a random canoe in the second episode of the second season taking a nap? Im so freaking confused!

However, since Ash/Angela cut off the arm with the contract on it, He couldn't.
(It's pretty confusing)
In that period of time, Claude realized this and took ciel's soul... somehow.
I hope that helps. They explain it better towards the end of season two.
