Hmm,how about The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,and Tokyo Mew Mew.

Pretear is really nice. It's romantic, it has an amazing plot, and it's only 13 episodes long.
If you're into Shoujo Ai, try out Strawberry Panic! It's a pretty good anime, kind of confusing,though.
YuGiOh! is slightly cliché, but it has a relatively good plot, and it's an interesting plot.
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is a really cute anime about eight mermaid princesses protecting the oceans from sea demons, and it has a lot of music, so check it out!
Ojamajo DoReMi is pretty nice, it's kind of a comedy. It's about a bunch of witch apprentices who are trying to become full fledged witches by passing different tests.
Card Captor Sakura is really cute, about three people who are trying to find Clow Cards that will destroy the world if they don't. It has a bit of romance too, so I suggest giving it a go.
Ah! My Goddess is about a boy who accidentally calls the Goddess Help Line and winds up having a personal goddess named Belldandy. I really enjoyed this one too.
Princess Tutu is purely adorable! It's about a duck named Ahiru who turns into a girl who turns into the mythical princess, Princess Tutu, who has to find the lost shards of Prince Mythos's heart.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is really good, and it's a about a girl who can change reality and bend the universe to suit her wishes, and doesn't even know it, I strongly recommend that one.

Loveless, Monster, Trinity Blood, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop and Blood + are all good animes. (pic. from Loveless)
