the wallflower its really funny and i guess kinda dark ii mean the heroine is in love with everything creepy like blood and guts so there are some pretty awesome seans i still havent told you the plot yet tho -.- there is a hint of romance in it to but you cant really tell becuz they mistake there love for hate o.e..... it sounds a lot more sadistic then i ment for it to >.< i wrote an artical about it you can read that on my page and see if that tells you anything about the anime it really is great. its one of my favorites. i recomended for every type of person

umm my suggestions are

Cowboy Bebop is gritty, but interlaced with humor. The last half of Trigun, starting with "Diablo" grows dark, but still has some silly scenes. Full Metal Panic!The Second Raid is dark compared to the humorous Full Metal Panic!Fumoffu, but still has some Fumoffu type humor near the beginning. Samurai Champloo is a mixture of humorous and dark episodes.

xxxHOLiC, though I would suggest reading the manga. The anime is good but not nearly as amazing as the manga is.

Hmm.... I have a couple anime with that kind of stuff. You can try Fullmetal Alchemist (regular show), Moon Phase, or maybe something from Lupin the Third (it doesn't have many dark scenes, but the art is dark-style).

Ergo Proxy is pretty dark a bit like deathnote but darker and a bit more real. don't want to be the spoiler so i'll you let check it out. Thier was 1 manga that i read, Future Diary. It was very intresting, dark, and suspensing. I don't know if Future Diary is an anime but i do know it a manga. Thier is also Chibi Vampire which is very funny but envolves a vampire family giving it a dark cuality to it. I'll just list some anime and manga that sutes your request including the ones i had already mentioned. i asure you that you will love them and find it quite to your liking of taste.
