Ancient Greece and other parts of the world.

Does anyone know about what was happening in The Middle East (Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Saudi Arabia ect.) during Ancient Greece? For example were the harems used and misogyny practiced, what religion was around during the time and what language/s were/was spoken.
Also can anyone tell me if Cyprus was called Cyprus back then or was it something different?
