Does Alan Rickman smoke?

No matter the real/actual answer, I will continue to believe that Alan is too smart to have such a nasty habit :)

In an interview Rickman said he used to smoke but gave it up on his 40th birthday. His life partner Rima Horton was at one time very noted for smoking, but it appears even she may have given up the habit.

No he doesn't smoke, he said in an interview recently that he gave up smoking back in the late 1980's. Also people who attended the stage performance of Private Lives asked if the cast smoked and were told none of the cast smoke so fake cigarettes were used for the play just as they are in films.

I don't think so. Sometimes there are pictures that show. In Noble son the one scene showed him smoking but that was a puff and quickly blow out the smoke.

No, I do not believe he smokes now, although he may have in the distant past. His voice is too clear for him to be a regular TOBACCO smoker, but I am pretty sure he wouldn't refuse a joint. He just does not act or look like a regular cigarette smoker; he seems to dislike having to smoke in movies-it doesn't look natural for him to be doing it, and he holds them like he doesn't want to touch OR smoke them. He's a class act, any way you look at it.

He said that he used to smoke but gave it upon the ‘80’s. But if you used to smoke it can still give you cancer later in life. My dad gave up smoking at age 50. It still killed him with lung cancer 20 yeasts later. Many people don’t know this.
